– We can say that Norwegians have become somewhat more skeptical of contact with Russia and somewhat more suspicious of Russians, says researcher Marthe Handå Myhre to Aftenposten.
She has contributed to the survey, which was carried out by Respons Analyze on behalf of the City and Regional Research Institute NIBR at Oslo Met. 1348 people participated.
To the claim that “there is no reason to be suspicious of all Russians in Norway”, 42 percent respond that they fully or partially disagree. In comparison, the proportion was 33 per cent in the same survey in 2022.
At the same time, attitudes towards the Ukraine war have also changed somewhat.
In 2022, 72 percent completely disagreed that Ukraine should cede areas to Russia to end the war, while now the proportion has fallen to 60 percent.
– We see that the “don’t know” percentage has increased on most questions, and that on some questions it has increased significantly. Especially on questions that have to do with geopolitics and foreign policy, which I would assume are experienced as difficult, says Myhre.
