Over $4 million worth of illegal narcotics discovered in Southern California drug bust

A Southern California man was arrested after police discovered millions of dollars worth of illegal narcotics in a drug bust.

The suspect was identified as Jose Alberto Soto, 28, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Following an extensive investigation, officers conducted an undercover operation in the 7500 block of Central Avenue on Oct. 16.

During the search, police discovered over 50 pounds of powdered fentanyl and nearly nine pounds of black tar heroin. Around $14,500 in cash was also located.

Police said the estimated street value of the seized narcotics was over $4 million.

“Assuming a 2mg lethal dose, this seized fentanyl could potentially kill over 11 million people,” LAPD said.

Soto was arrested on charges of fentanyl sales. The case remains under investigation.
