The Carolina Panthers are moving forward with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton as their starter.
Second-year quarterback Bryce Young has been benched by head coach Dave Canales after Young did not perform well enough against the New Orleans Saints or Los Angeles Chargers to open the 2024 NFL season.
Despite the demotion, Canales recently squashed any sort of trade speculation surrounding his young quarterback.
“That’s not something we’re really considering. We have a great situation with our quarterbacks right now,” Canales said, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Obviously, the situation isn’t that great considering the first-year head coach was already forced to make a change at the position.
However, is it possible that Young could get another opportunity to start for Carolina later in the season?
It could happen, especially if he makes strides in practice while sitting and learning from a longtime pro like Dalton.
Remember, Dalton spent nine seasons as the franchise quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals and made the Pro Bowl three times.
Since 2020, he has played for four teams and been more of a bridge quarterback and experienced backup than anything else.
He has started 163 NFL regular season games overall, and four in the playoffs for the Bengals.
Now at 36 years old, he will be tasked with trying to get the Panthers some wins.
All Young can do is try to learn from the 14-year veteran and try to get better before he possibly gets another opportunity.
If he doesn’t improve, his time in Carolina could soon be over.
