The jury is definitely still out for new Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick.

Some people think he’ll do a great job leading the Lakers and working closely with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and others.

However, there are a number of people who aren’t confident in his abilities, especially since he’s never coached before.

On the latest episode of his podcast, Patrick Beverley praised Redick and said he’ll be excellent in his new job.

He believes this because Redick was a player himself and can relate to the men on his team in ways that many other coaches cannot.

Redick was an active member of the league not that long ago.

He has been retired as a professional player for only a few years and the memories of being an NBA star are still fresh in his mind.

This gives him a sort of insight and analysis that many other coaches don’t have because they haven’t played ball in a very long time, if at all.

Redick is still very tuned into what it’s like to be an NBA player.

With that being said, there is a chorus of fans who fear Redick just doesn’t have the right sort of coaching experience.

Playing in the league is one thing, but coaching in it is something else entirely.

Many head coaches need a few seasons before they find their groove and feel confident in their position.

Sadly, the Lakers don’t have much time because James’ retirement is inching closer and closer.

Redick might have great insight and may relate to the players, but will that make him a winning coach?
