The discrepancy occurred a week in February and was first discovered by the National Audit Office, writes NRK.
NRK became aware of the case through a notice of deviation that Finnmarkssykehuset had sent to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. According to the notice of deviation, so many people were affected that it could not be counted.
Finnmarkshykehuset demanded that the information about the discrepancy not be made public as a result of threat actors being able to exploit the vulnerability. People who were affected by the discrepancy were therefore also not informed that the information was unsecured.
Trade union representative Christel Eriksen at Finnmarkssykehuset is worried that employees and patients were not informed about the discrepancy and says that trust in Helse nord has weakened.
According to Helse nord, the deviation was closed before it had any consequences. No unauthorized person should have abused the access, according to owner director of Helse nord RHF, Hilde Rolandsen.
