Pilot project in Sandefjord tests solar cell systems along the road – will provide solar-powered trucks – Dagsavisen

According to the plan, the project will be operational by the summer. The plant will be built on so-called gray area, so as not to make new interventions in nature.

РOur goal is to ensure society has enough power in the most gentle way possible for nature. Building solar power along roads will be an efficient and sustainable use of land, but it is currently unproven in Norway, says senior project developer Knut Br̴ten in Hafslund.

Department director Tore Jan Hansen in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration says they hope to gain experience from the project.

– There will be a number of challenges with having a solar cell plant close to a high-traffic road, including plowing and salting. Now we will test this in practice. What we learn is more important than the number of kilowatts we produce.
