Pochettino must turn around cruel Chelsea form – only two away wins in 2023 – Dagsavisen

The two victories in important matches on foreign turf in 2023 have come against Leicester (March) and Bournemouth (May) respectively. In the remaining matches of the current calendar year, including cup competitions, Chelsea have gone without a win.

A long injury list also creates trouble for head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

– Football is dynamic, and it is always about what is happening now. Things can change, but for now we have to work with what we have. It’s about scoring more goals and becoming more solid at the back, said the Argentine when he met the press before the match against Fulham.

Initially in the Premier League season, Chelsea have lost against Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and West Ham. Points were shared against Liverpool and Bournemouth, while the only triumph so far came at home against newly promoted Luton.

A bright spot at the start of the season is that Chelsea have advanced to the league cup’s fourth round after victories against Wimbledon and Brighton. The latter match was the last time the men in blue were in action.

– I think it was a very solid performance. It was a win that we needed. The effort was very good and I hope this can make us stronger ahead of Monday’s game, continued Pochettino.
