Pokemon Fan Designs Baby Version of Doduo

A talented Pokemon fan has created a baby version of Doduo, sharing online their take on the critter. The Pokemon community often creates new forms for their favorite monsters, and one theme that fans particularly like to explore is baby forms.

Introduced in Gen 2, baby Pokemon refers to creatures at the lowest stage of evolution. Most often obtained by breeding or if players are lucky enough to find an egg, the introduction of the Hoenn region allowed players to catch Wynaut in the wild, a first for the franchise, with more baby pocket monsters found in the wild in Gen 4. Baby Pokemon are a very popular aspect of the series, and fans often agree there aren’t enough pre-evolutions in the games. Because of this, the community often creates fanart showing what these little guys could look like.

This is the case with Reddit user qobrosii, who shared a baby form of Doduo. Named Dolo, this small Pokemon is made up of three heads stacked on top of each other, with all of them having cute eyes. While the head on the ground has a small pair of feet, the one on top has a single feather on its head, giving an adorable twist to Doduo, a strange Pokemon introduced back in Gen 1.

Along with the fanart they created, the artist shared Dolo’s Pokedex entry, revealing that the heads move as a unit, creating the illusion of great height to deter potential predators and attackers. According to them, their work references Hinaazu, a beta Pokemon that was supposed to be a baby Doduo and consists of a three-headed creature as if it were a walking bird’s nest. This version never saw the light of day, and today what fans know is Doduo, a two-headed monster with separate brains but connected by a single spinal cord, and its evolution, Dodrio, which has three heads with distinct personalities and represents different feelings.

This isn’t the first time the OP has shared a pre-evolution fanart for an existing Pokemon, having previously made a cute baby version of Druddigon. This is also not the first time that the community has come up with its ideas of pre-evolution designs, drawing attention to inventive ideas such as baby Skarmory, Tropius, and Garchomp. Thus, fans show that should Game Freak one day decide to explore this concept further, there is no shortage of Pokemon options to do so.
