Pokemon Fan Designs Creepy New Evolution for Parasect

Key Takeaways

  • A Pokemon fan artist created a creepy Parasect evolution concept based on an unsettling idea.
  • Known as Paraspectre, this unique evolution would be achieved by feeding Parasect a Rare Candy while it is knocked out.
  • Fans debated which elemental types the new Parasect evolution concept would have, considering its design.

A Pokemon fan artist drew and shared their take on what an evolution for Parasect would look like, and it leans on one of the creepier aspects of Parasect’s known characteristics for the new form. The Pokemon fan artist received compliments from their peers on social media, and some trainers debated which elemental types the Parasect evolution concept would have.

Known by nicknames such as the Mushroom Pokemon, Parasect first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. Parasect is a Bug and Grass dual-type critter that evolves from Paras at level 24. Parasect’s defining feature is the large red mushroom that grows on its back. The mushroom starts small and comes in pairs when the host Pokemon is still a Paras, but the fungus grows gigantic once the host evolves into a Parasect. The mushroom’s sheer size and spores eventually overtake Parasect’s mind and body, rendering the hapless Pokemon a zombie-like creature, according to its equally unsettling Pokedex entry.

Although Parasect evolutions do not currently exist officially, that has not stopped Pokemon trainers from using their imagination. A Reddit user named W00dsmen shared their original concept of a Parasect evolution on the r/pokemon subreddit. In a screenshot, W00dsmen chose the name “Paraspectre” for their original creation, and provided a unique method of evolution. Paraspectre is a Pokemon with four twig-like legs, two antennae, and a body made of two blue mushrooms with yellow spots. At the bottom of Paraspectre’s body, the host Parasect’s dried husk is shown dangling from the bottom, having withered away as a result of the mushroom’s influence. W00dsmen stated that evolving a Parasect into a Paraspectre would require trainers to feed it a Rare Candy at level 35 or higher, but only when the Parasect is knocked out.

This method of evolution would be unique to the Pokemon series, and a testament to the macabre design of Paraspectre. In response, Pokemon trainers complimented W00dsmen for their handiwork and debated what types the new evolution concept would have. While Parasect is a Bug and Grass Pokemon by design, trainers discussed which of those two types would be replaced by the Ghost type after considering Paraspectre’s name, design, and evolution method.

Despite not having any additional forms, Parasect has been a consistent, early-game staple of novice Pokemon trainer teams. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A targeting a 2025 release window, it remains to be seen if Parasect will get a new form.
