After you’ve cleared the Hyrule Castle rift, you’ll receive a new outfit for Zelda in Echoes of Wisdom. You can now collect various outfits and change her appearance in the Equipment page in the menu. One outfit you’ll want to nab as soon as you leave Hyrule Castle Town are the Cat Clothes. Not only does it look like a bizarre Hyrule mascot uniform, but the Cat Clothes enable you to talk to cats. There are several side quests in Echoes of Wisdom that require this outfit, one of which is “Questioning the Local Cats” in Kakariko Village.
How to Get Cat Clothes in Echoes of Wisdom
Complete “Deliver the Grilled Fish!”
If you speak to the old man in front of the house by the eastern gate of Kakariko Village, he’ll give you a hint as to where you can get the Cat Clothes. Without this equipment, you won’t be able to complete the “Questioning the Local Cats” side quest. It also helps if you’ve completed (or at least learned the Grilled Fish Echo) the “Deliver the Grilled Fish!” side quest in Seesyde Village. You will also need the Holmill Echo, which you can get during the “A Rift in Gerudo Desert” main quest.
- Speak to the lady in front of Kakariko Village’s store in the southeastern corner of the village to start your quest to get the Cat Clothes.
- She won’t give you the outfit until she has an item buried in front of the northeastern windmill. It just so happens that a cat is napping on the tile where her treasure is buried.
- Interact with the cat, then use the Grilled Fish Echo so that it moves off the dirt tile.
- Once it’s out of the way, use the Holmill Echo over the patch of dirt to dig up a Secret Stash.
- You will then receive the Cat Outfit from the lady outside the store. This can be quipped by going into your Equipment tab in the menu.
Questioning the Local Cats Walkthrough
Where is the Missing Cat?
In “Questioning the Local Cats,” you’ll need to find the old man’s cat and bring it home. You will need to equip the Cat Clothes and speak to the cats in Kakariko Village. If you talk to the one by the northeastern windmill, she’ll tell you to go ask someone else. Head towards the northwestern windmill next to the graveyard, and climb it to speak to the cat napping on the roof. She’ll mention that the old man’s cat traveled east and is most-likely napping in a tree.
Leave out the east gate, follow the eastern path, and you’ll find a tree with the cat sleeping on top. Use your Crawler Echo (or stack Tables/Crates) to reach the cat, and speak to him so that he returns home. You can find the cat’s location on the image below (located at Zelda’s icon):
Questioning the Local Cats Reward
Where to Use Refreshing Grapes
As a reward for “Questioning the Local Cats,” you’ll receive x10 Refreshing Grapes. You can eat these to restore half a heart, but it’s better to use them for smoothie-making. If you combine two Refreshing Grapes, you can get a Refreshing Smoothie, which restores 5 hearts. Combining one Refreshing Grape with another ingredient will result in a different type of smoothie with (potentially) higher recovery effects. For example, mixing a Refreshing Grape and Fresh Milk creates a Refreshing Milky Smoothie (restores 13 hearts). Refreshing Grapes are a good ingredient to have on hand if you’re trying to complete the “Recipes, Please!” side quest.
