Good morning. Felipe VI begins today the second round of consultations to designate a new candidate for the investiture, after the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, failed to obtain the necessary votes to be elected. It is now expected that the socialist and current acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will be the new candidate for President of the Government, although the King will not be able to sound out Junts, ERC, Bildu and BNG, several of his parliamentary allies, because they refuse to attend these meetings.
After Feijóo’s second investiture vote, the president of Congress, Francina Armengol, went to Zarzuela on Friday to inform the Head of State of the result. This Monday, the King will receive the representatives of UPN, Canarian Coalition, PNV, Sumar and Vox. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the round of consultations with PSOE and PP will end.
