– Record in “legal trickery” before Black Week – Dagsavisen

In October, 35 percent of all 6.5 million prices monitored by the Prisjakt website increased, the highest number since the survey began five years ago. Over 920,000 of the items increased by more than 10 per cent.

The reason is that the shops set up the prices ahead of Black Week at the end of this month, as the offers then appear to be better than they really are.

Nevertheless, this is legal.

– The stores have a statutory limit of 30 days to set the pre-price and prepare in October by keeping the prices high for more than 30 days, so that they can legally market large price reductions throughout November, especially during Black Week, says Norwegian CEO Christoffer Reina in Prisjakt in a press release.

He believes that many customers will be deceived as there is a high chance that the same products have been cheaper at other times of the year.

At the same time, he does not rule out that there are real offers to pick up as well.

– If things are 7 per cent cheaper than other days of the year, then there are actually good deals, says Reina to NRK.
