Over the course of the first three weeks of the 2024 NFL regular season, outside of the two games set to be played on Monday night, many quarterbacks around the league have struggled to be productive during an era of the quarterback, which is strange, to say the least.

Ironically enough, with a number of star quarterbacks struggling to be in peak form three games into the 2024 campaign, there have been some surprises, with one veteran journeyman standing out more than any.

Former No. 3 overall pick from the 2018 NFL Draft, Sam Darnold, has been written off by many media members and football fans, and understandably so, as he has seemed like a bust and nothing more than a career backup heading into this season.

Fortunately for Darnold, he lucked into another opportunity to be a starter in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, and he has taken full advantage of that opportunity, leading his new team to three straight wins to start the season in the post-Kirk Cousins era.

With Darnold looking like the best quarterback in the league statistically right now while being the leader under center for arguably the best team in the league at the moment, many have begun singing the praises of the veteran quarterback, like former NFL MVP Rich Gannon via SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“We are seeing a quarterback that is actually playing with some confidence,” Gannon said.

Although it seems like everyone is waiting for Darnold to fail as he has during other stints with the teams when given the starting job, Minnesota is firing on all cylinders while taking down some talented teams, like the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans, in consecutive weeks.

Darnold will face another tough challenge in Week 4, as he’ll go on the road with the Vikings to face the division-rival Green Bay Packers, who might have star quarterback Jordan Love back under center.
