The Carolina Panthers will roll with Andy Dalton.

Former No. 1 pick Bryce Young will head to the bench after just 18 starts and a 2-16 record.

From a football perspective, this might be the right decision.

From an organizational standpoint, however, it was tough.

Nonetheless, former NFL star Richard Sherman believes they did the right thing.

Talking on his podcast, he claimed that CJ Stroud must be thanking God that he didn’t go No. 1 overall; otherwise, he could be an entirely different player because of the Panthers’ lack of talent.

More than that, he thinks that Dave Canales and his coaching staff aren’t giving up on Young.

If anything, he thinks that they believe he’s not ready and aren’t doing him any favors by continuing to plummet his confidence.

Now, he can sit back and actually learn and develop by watching a veteran quarterback be in command of the offense.

Of course, that makes sense if the Panthers actually hold onto Young and look to put him in a position to succeed.

They haven’t exactly come out to defend him and let the fans know that they just want him to sit back and develop.

It’s hard to make a case for himself, given the way he’s played thus far.

But the team hasn’t done him many favors, and giving up on him after just 18 games is a little surprising.

Then again, perhaps all he needs is some time on the sidelines to get his confidence and his legs back under him.
