The Dallas Cowboys aren’t a better team now than they were last season, at least on paper.

Through three weeks, they have a 1-2 record and have been crushed on the ground in back-to-back weeks.

They’ve allowed well over 550 rushing yards in the season, and that’s despite holding the Cleveland Browns to 93 rushing yards in the season opener.

That speaks volumes about how the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens were able to dominate them on the ground.

Notably, Richard Sherman doesn’t see that changing anytime soon.

In the latest edition of his podcast, the former Super Bowl champion expressed his concerns for the Cowboys’ run defense under Mike Zimmer.

He claimed that this has always been a recurring issue with him, which is why he thinks no one wanted to hire him as a defensive coordinator after he was fired from the Minnesota Vikings.

He also thinks the Cowboys’ once-great pass rush has taken a big step back from the Dan Quinn era, so he’s clearly not much of a fan of Coach Zimmer.

The Cowboys can’t stop the run, and that means they can’t get opposing teams off the field.

That wears out their defense, which eventually leads to big plays, and the cycle never stops.

On top of that, they just don’t have any sort of running game on offense, either, and trusting Dak Prescott to win them games has rarely — if ever — worked out for them.

This isn’t a good situation for Mike McCarthy’s team, and it would be shocking to see him and Zimmer keeping their jobs at the end of the season if this goes on.
