Riiber landed at 136 meters in the jumping part and thus has a big job ahead of him in the cross-country later on Saturday. 1.08 minutes is the difference to leader Rydzek, who soared 142 metres. At the same time, only one second separates Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto in third place.
Riiber won the first race of the World Cup season on Friday. Then he decided on the race. Riiber has had his problems since last season, including a knee injury, a stomach virus and the extraction of a wisdom tooth.
Sebastian Østvold was the second best Norwegian in the ski jump with his 128 metres. He goes out 1.45 minutes behind Rydzek.
Jens Lurås Oftebro jumped 124.5 meters and finishes 2.08 behind the German. Then follows Espen Andersen (+2.10), Andreas Skoglund (+2.25), Espen Bjørnstad (+3.09) and Jens Dahlseide Kvamme (+3.34),
In his jump, the Austrian Johannes Lamparter had major problems coming off the edge of the jump and had to work hard to avoid a potentially ugly fall. He eventually landed on his feet, but received a poor score.
