Ruud passed Djokovic in the ranking – ends the year in 6th place – Dagsavisen

Ruud beat both Carlos Alcaraz and Andrej Rublev in the pool play in Turin. The Snarøya boy thus secured 400 new points The ATP rankingwhich was updated on Monday.

The Norwegian thus advanced past Djokovic and now holds 6th place on the list of the world’s best tennis players. Djokovic did not compete in the ATP playoffs due to injury.

Taylor Fritz, who reached the final in Turin, also climbed one place on the latest update, taking over 4th place from Daniil Medvedev, whom the American beat in pool play.

Jannik Sinner cemented his position as supreme world number one by beating Ruud in the semi-finals and Fritz in the final after going undefeated through pool play. The Italian tops the ATP ranking by a clear margin.

Although the ATP season and the battle for new ranking points have ended for this year, Ruud is not quite finished for the season. The Norwegian will face his rival Holger Rune in show matches in Asker and Copenhagen.

The first match takes place in Frisk Askers arena on 30 November, while a return match awaits in Denmark on 3 December.
