San Bernardino man arrested in fatal shooting

A San Bernardino man has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed another man earlier this month.

The shooting was reported just before 8 a.m. on Oct. 12, and when officers arrived to the 1100 block of North Stoddard Avenue, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, the San Bernardino Police Department said in a news release.

That man, whose identity has not been released, was declared dead at the scene.

Police identified 46-year-old Wesley Parker Weltch as the alleged shooter, and he was arrested Monday evening in the 2500 block of West Foothill Boulevard.

Weltch is being held at the Central Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bail on the murder charge, though he’s also being held without bail on drug charges, jail records show.

He’s due to appear in San Bernardino Superior Court on Oct. 31.

Detectives are looking for witnesses to the killing.
