Star Rail’s Rappa May Be Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Honkai: Star Rail likes to innovate with its gameplay mechanics in each update, and that’s evident with the upcoming playable character Rappa. The Galaxy Ranger is the only new 5-star banner character in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6, and she’s said to be able to hover around the map while rapping — a first for any character in the game.

Rappa is in an interesting spot in Honkai: Star Rail‘s banner lineup: the Version 2.6 banner will be the first to only have one new 5-star character, which could be a boon in order to avoid any form of fatigue among fans. The possible downside is that she might be caught between a rock and a hard place, as Honkai: Star Rail fans might overlook her in the upcoming update.

Rappa’s Launch in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6 Could Be a Challenge

Star Rail’s Rappa May Be Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Rappa is a 5-star Imaginary-type Erudition character, which means that she can deal AoE damage to multiple enemies. According to rumors, Rappa can reportedly reduce enemies’ toughness and increase her Break Effect efficiency, which would make her a good character to have in the current Honkai: Star Rail meta. There are also rumors claiming that Rappa has a rap song that she’ll perform during her idle animation and possibly in battle, just like how Robin performs while her Ultimate ability’s active.

Name

Rappa (5-star)

Element and Path

Imaginary, Path of Erudition

Many Honkai: Star Rail fans online seem keen to pull for Rappa in Version 2.6, especially since she’s the first Imaginary Erudition character. Some have also offered fellow players sound advice to pull for the banner characters that they like, especially if they feel like Rappa would be a good fit for their teams. However, there are also a good number of people who are not sold on Rappa’s character design or the fact that she can rap, citing that they aren’t confident about HoYoverse producing a good rap song because of Hu Tao’s rap in Genshin Impact.

There’s also the matter of Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.7’s banner possibly featuring Sunday and Tingyun’s 5-star form, which many fans have been looking forward to. Once HoYoverse confirms the rumored Version 2.7 banner, fans might choose to skip Rappa to save on Stellar Jades and golden Warp tickets.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.6’s Rumored 5-Star Rerun Characters Might Take the Spotlight Too

With Rappa being the only new banner character for Version 2.6, leaks suggested that Honkai: Star Rail might ramp up the 5-star rerun characters for the update. Leakers have claimed that Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Silver Wolf, Seele, Firefly, and/or Blade might make their much-awaited return to Honkai: Star Rail. Although this information isn’t final yet, the initial list of 5-star rerun characters includes really popular characters that are viable to use in various battles. It’s possible that players could prioritize pulling for the reruns to either get their first copy of the unit or level up existing characters’ Eidolons.

  • Aventurine (Imaginary, Preservation): Support character that provides stackable shields for allies and deals follow-up attacks.
  • Firefly (Fire, Destruction): Strong Break Effect attacks that add Fire Weaknesses to enemies.
  • Silver Wolf (Quantum, Nihility): Debuffs enemies with her Skill, making her the ideal unit for Nihility teams.
  • Blade (Wind, Destruction), Dr. Ratio (Imaginary, The Hunt), and Seele (Quantum, The Hunt): Main DPS units in many team compositions because of their strong single-unit attacks and follow-up attacks.

Skipping banner characters is a pretty normal thing to do, especially for F2P Honkai: Star Rail players who are saving for certain units. However, Rappa might fight to stand out from the rest of the roster, especially with the rumored launch of Sunday and Tingyun on the horizon. Of course, it’s still likely that Rappa might be a success in Version 2.6, but it’s also undeniable that the cards might be stacked against her.
