A lot has to go your way to find success in the NFL.

But sometimes, even when it’s not a player’s fault, the fact of the matter is that they’re just not good enough to play in the pros.

Unfortunately, that might be the case with Bryce Young.

He was a hard-working player with an impressive résumé before he made it to the league, but he may not be cut out to play in the NFL.

At least, that’s how Stephen A. Smith feels about him.

In the latest edition of ESPN’s First Take, the controversial pundit claimed that Young could possibly be the worst No. 1 pick in NFL history, even ahead of JaMarcus Russell.

Smith stated that he wasn’t rooting against Young and pointed out that the Carolina Panthers’ ownership also put him in a terrible spot.

Then again, even if it’s not entirely on him, there’s just no way to hide or justify how badly he’s fared as a pro.

Young ranks last in several categories since he entered the league, and he just looks overmatched, overpowered, and out of sorts out there.

There were always concerns about his size, and Smith claims that he looks tiny.

There have been some instances in which Young has literally had to jump just to get a pass off.

It’s not fair to give up on a player after just 18 games, but that may also speak volumes about how the Panthers truly feel about him and what they’ve seen from him.
