During his NBA career, Stephon Marbury played for both the Brooklyn Nets (then the New Jersey Nets) and the New York Knicks.

But speaking on the “Roommates Show”, Marbury made it very clear that only one team stands supreme in the Big Apple.

“It was always the Knicks. I was never the Nets,” Marbury said.

That was true when Marbury was playing and it’s even more true now.

Marbury spent three seasons with the Nets and then five seasons with the Knicks.

Even though he earned one of his two All-Star appearances while playing for the Nets, Marbury still considers the Knicks the more popular team.

This isn’t shocking and it’s always been that way.

Much like the Los Angeles Clippers fighting to overtake the Lakers’ popularity in LA, the Nets have always wanted to be bigger than the Knicks but it hasn’t happened.

Right now, the Knicks are far superior to the Nets and are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

That means fans should expect many more years of the Knicks towering over their Empire State rivals.

Of course, the Nets have the chance to grow a lot soon.

They are accumulating a lot of draft assets and young talent and are hoping to capitalize on it all over the next several seasons.

But even when they become more competitive, it’s unlikely they will be more popular than the Knicks

New York has always been loyal to that team and that’s not going to change.
