Støre thanks all the crews who fight against the water – Dagsavisen

– Many are on duty around the clock to provide security to the rest of us. A big thank you to the rescue service, the health authorities and everyone else who is at work for our safety and preparedness, writes Støre in a Facebook– posts.

He points out that extreme weather is a sign of more frequent wetter and wilder weather.

– It is part of climate change, and this reminds us of how important our efforts are to take care of our planet. Now the extreme weather Jakob is ravaging Western Norway. Large amounts of rainfall pose a risk of landslides and floods. This is a serious situation that can lead to injuries, wrote Støre on Thursday afternoon, in the hours before the worst started.

The municipality of Ullensvang in Hardanger is particularly hard hit, and the extreme weather continues in several areas in Western Norway.

– In recent years, we have seen countless examples of the resilience of a local community where people stand up for each other when extreme weather hits. Take care of yourself – and each other, concludes the Prime Minister.
