Winds are gusty again to the tune of 35-45 MPH.  There will be a general drop in the evening and more so for Friday Football Fever.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Rain pushes toward western Kansas, mild weekend temps

The threat for grassfires still needs to be watched through the early evening although the moisture content in the atmosphere is starting to come up with the next storm system positioned to our southwest.

A few showers and storms will target western Kansas through early tonight.  A storm or two to the northwest may be robust enough to mix down some damaging wind gusts to 65 MPH.

The focus for rain for football games this evening will be closer to the Colorado state line.  A stray shower or two will survive in Central Kansas early on Saturday.

Then again, most rain and storms will prefer western Kansas.  Moisture will move our way in waves around the core of the low sitting to our southwest.

Latest trends slow the system down and pull the higher rainfall potential farther west.  That said, we will still have additional rain and storms Saturday and Sunday in the western half of Kansas.

The system ejects to the northeast Sunday night into Monday, offering more folks the possibility of catching a few raindrops.

Highs will be mild in the upper 60s to the lower 70s this weekend.

On Monday, hit or miss rain and storms will shift into Central and Eastern Kansas before exiting.

Rainfall potential of an inch or greater will be near and west of the Colorado state line.  Much of our area will be in the 0.1″-0.5″ range with a drop off farther east.

Temperatures rally ahead of the next cool front on Tuesday. Some will warm into the 80s before cooling by midweek due to another front tracking across the area.

Moisture will be in limited supply with this frontal passage on Wednesday, but a sprinkle or shower cannot be ruled out.  We will cool closer to the norm to end next week.
