Swedes charged with terrorism wanted to injure or kill people at the Israeli embassy – Dagsavisen

The attack against the Israeli embassy in Hellerup in Copenhagen was carried out on the night of 2 October this year. A few days later, the Swedish teenagers, aged 17 and 19, were charged with terrorist offences.

Hand grenades were thrown at the embassy, but ended up on a balcony belonging to a house near the embassy. The prosecution now states that they believe the intention was to injure or kill people at the embassy.

Both the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish intelligence services have previously said that they are investigating possible links to Iran after the explosions.

On Thursday, there is a court hearing behind closed doors in Copenhagen City Council. A judge must decide whether the suspicion of terrorism is strong enough for the teenagers to be detained. They have previously been detained for violating the Arms Act and for having caused the explosions.

Both deny criminal guilt.

Prosecutor Søren Harbo believes there are still one or more perpetrators who are at large.

– It is not possible to imagine that they have carried out this action alone. There must be a few more perpetrators, he said at the court hearing on Thursday.
