The Swedish children’s book series, which has also been translated into Norwegian, is about Lisa who discovers her superpowers and takes up the fight against both criminals and bullies. It is written by Agnes and Elias VÃ¥hlund.
Now it will become an animated film in Sweden for seven- to twelve-year-olds, and Norwegian Qvisten Animation and Rasmus A. Sivertsen are on board.
– “Handbook for superheroes” is a very cool book series. This is a Norwegian-Swedish co-production, where Qvisten is co-producer. Patrik Forsberg is the main director, and I am in charge of animation, says Sivertsen to NTB.
Rasmus A. Sivertsen himself was behind “Helt super” (2022), the animated film about Hedvig who inherits a superhero title, but has no superhero abilities. It was Qvisten’s first original story – and is remembered by many for the uproar it caused when it was to be screened at the Berlinale last year, and an anti-racist organization protested and stopped the screening.
– When we made “Helt Super”, “Handbook for superheroes” was a reference work for us, among other things when it came to bringing out new role models and the message that everyone has a superpower in them. Then it appeared now – and it’s fun, says Sivertsen about “Handbok för superhjältar – Röda Masken”, which Swedish Stiller Studios makes.
Rasmus Sivertsen himself is looking forward to the January premiere of something as rare as an adult animation – namely “Spermageddon”, where Tommy Wirkola is the main director.
– There is very little adult animation here at home, so fantastically fun that it happens, says Sivertsen.
