Instead of one, Star Wars Squadrons has two protagonists for the player to control and customize to their liking in epic and authentic space battles, since there are two sides to the story and online multiplayer: New Republic and Imperial. With the pilots on both sides, there is the option to customize both the pilot and the starships.
On the one hand, Star Wars Squadrons features impressive visuals that make all the available options for the pilots and ships look nice. On the other hand, though, the options are rather limited and require a lot of grinding or using microtransactions to unlock them all, including some of the best ones.

One of the first times gamers were allowed to create their own Jedi, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was ahead of its time. Playing as Jaden, male or female, gamers are capable of making them a Human, Rodian, Twi’Lek, Kel Dor, or Zabrak, each with options for the head, torso, and legs.
While the options were limited in Jedi Academy, especially by today’s standards, it was such a breath of fresh air for fans back in 2003 to control their own Jedi Knight, made from scratch. This also includes the first opportunity to customize lightsabers, with options for hilt styles and various lightsaber blade colors, including yellow, purple, and orange.

Before Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, lightsaber customization was simply picking a hilt and a color. However, with so many looks and classes of lightsabers being introduced over the years, Respawn Entertainment took it even further by allowing the mixing and matching of emitters, switches, pommels, and grips along with even more colors than ever before.
Most of the lightsaber options in Fallen Order can be found in chests across the planets, which makes 100% completion far more worth the effort because there are so many options to unlock. There are also options to customize Cal Kestis, but they are infamously disappointing because they are all ponchos with only a select few that look good.

As an upgrade from the first game, Starkiller now wields two lightsabers in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II to fight legions of enemies with hack-and-slash gameplay. As a result, players can unlock various Kyber crystals hidden throughout the campaign, just like in the first game.
However, The Force Unleashed II expands upon the customization by allowing matching colors or mixes, such as one blade being red and another being blue. Since each Kyber crystal has different passive traits, from extra damage to healing, it allows players to experiment to find the loadout they prefer or simply what colors appeal to them aesthetically.

Kay Vess herself features simple but effective customization in Star Wars Outlaws. She features multiple options for her torso, legs, and holster belt, allowing the chance to create the ideal look for a criminal in the Star Wars underworld. Some can be unlocked via chests and side quests, while some are exclusive to certain crime syndicates and require a good reputation to unlock.
Star Wars Outlaws also features customization for Kay Vess’ little pet companion Nix, her ship known as the Trailblazer, her speeder bike, and even her blaster. Not only are they cosmetic changes, but some options grant Kay and her equipment with bonus effects that can help with damage, stealth, health, and more.

Taking what was originally done with Knights Of The Old Republic, Star Wars: Knights Of The Republic goes further by allowing the creation of custom characters. Jedi, Sith, troopers, bounty hunters, smugglers, and Imperial are the available classes with a plethora of races to choose from alongside genders.
Players can spend hours going through the available cosmetic options for faces, outfits, hair, scars, and other cosmetic options for the character to make their ideal character. That’s not including the different clothes, weapons, and other aspects of the character that can be unlocked across the plethora of beautiful planets through hundreds of hours’ worth of gameplay.

Cal Kestis Is The Most Customizable Character So Far
After the poncho debacle of the first game, Respawn Entertainment went all out in customizing Cal Kestis from head to toe in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Now Cal has many outfits to mix and match, resembling a scoundrel, a Jedi, a bounty hunter, a trooper, and more with jackets, shirts, and pants. On top of that, Cal can be given different hairstyles and facial hair, with many options to unlock.
That’s not all that got upgraded, since Cal’s lightsaber with its five variations has even more options for the components and colors than in the first game. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor also gives Cal a blaster that is just as customizable as the lightsaber and his companion BD-1 can be customized, making it the most in-depth customization in Star Wars games to date.
