It is in an interview with Adresseavisen that the cross-country skiing profile from Oppdal tells of the drama of the illness that arose in late summer.
What she thought was a cold developed into a sick cough. Then coach Chris Jespersen urgently asked her to see a doctor. Whooping cough was diagnosed there.
– As I was put on treatment before two weeks had passed, I escaped the horror, says Slind to Adressa.
Whooping cough has the potential to persist for up to three months if treatment is not given quickly.
РYou can cough until you vomit for 100 days. It would have been a complete crisis for me, says Slind, knowing that the WC on home ground in Gran̴sen is only a few months away.
– I would probably have finished as a skier if that happened to me. His career could be over. I was lucky, she adds in the interview.
After a longer training break, she is now preparing for the start of the season at Beitostølen in two weeks. It’s all about putting in the first good application to get a place in the WC squad.
