– The hope for more playing time – Dagsavisen

On Tuesday evening, the Lyn recruits, with Ole Breistøl in the squad, secured promotion to the 3rd division. It has become an arena where the winger has featured a number of times, as one of the more high-profile players from the A team who have helped ensure that Lyn 2 ended the season with 13 straight wins and with that passed Holmlia.

– I was promoted this year as well. It was important for the club to secure this promotion, so it was good to get it done. Promotion is promotion, so it was fun to be part of this promotion as well, so maybe now I can take up the fight with Jan Halvor for the most promotions, says Ole Breistøl to Dagsavisen and laughs.

Hoping for more playing time

After he ravaged the edge towards the end of last season, when Lyn moved up to the Obosligaen, Breistøl chose to move to Copenhagen to study. It was a relatively short stay, and already in April he was back at Kringsjå and started training again with Lyn. The first goal of the season came against Åsane in June, but since then there have also been goals. 181 minutes spread over seven appearances and one match from the start.

– The time since I returned to Lyn in April has been very nice. It’s not that I don’t feel like I’m part of the first team, but it’s clear that there have been a lot fewer minutes recently than I had hoped. Those who play do very well, and the team also does very well, so it’s understandable, says Breistøl.

Nevertheless, he hopes to play a slightly bigger role at the end of the season than he has done so far.

– I hope to contribute already at the weekend against Ã…sane, and show a bit of what I can do. I feel like I haven’t done it quite yet since I came back. That’s how football is sometimes, and I just have to be ready when I get the opportunity, says Breistøl.

Has struggled with the groin

The 26-year-old is working to bring out his top form towards promotion qualification, after he has been a bit unlucky with injuries since his return.

– I have been a bit unlucky with some groin problems that came at a very bad time for me. When I finally felt the shape starting to come, I had a relapse there for a few weeks. Now I’ve been back in the game again for a few weeks, and just have to top my form for the last games of the season.

Everyone knows that this is where Breistøl is best. This time he also does not have to fly back and forth from Copenhagen to take part in Lyn’s promotion qualification.

– Hehe, that’s a clear advantage. I have a little more time for a good top sports routine now, both in terms of training and matches, than I had last year. And I still have good memories from the qualification last year, so it would have been nice to be able to contribute there this year as well, says Breistøl.

Good experience with promotion

With two games left in the season, Lyn is in fourth place. There is one point up to Moss, who Lyn will meet in the last round, but before that, Ã…sane awaits in Bergen on Saturday. Down to Raufoss outside the qualification there are five points, so much will go wrong if Lyn does not get an advanced place in promotion qualification this year as well.

– Now the playoff place is not completely secured yet, but we are of course aiming as high as possible now for a qualification that we can really look forward to. We have gradually gained a lot of experience from these types of matches, as they are a bit special to play in. It’s an extra nerve that you don’t get in a regular league match. That’s why I think the four games in the qualifiers last year will come in handy, says Breistøl.

The winger is full of praise for his teammates and how Lyn as a club is constantly taking new steps.

– There is a good group that has been with us from the start, we have also added new players along the way, although there have not been many at a time. The club has also been good at recruiting the right people, who have made both the training routine and the squad better and better. Many people say that, and it may sound silly, but the everyday training here is probably the main reason why we do so well, says Breistøl and continues:

– We train at a high level, against good players and have a consistent squad across the board. Everyone pushes each other and everyone has a man behind them in their position who treats you well, but who also ensures that you are extra on your toes and develop, concludes Ole Breistøl.
