– It is important to know your history in order to shape your future. Thor Bjørklund was a great innovator. He saw a problem in that he could not cut thin enough slices of cheese with a knife. He used his knowledge of the carpenter’s plane to solve it. It was a great innovation, says local politician Knut Arne Vassdokken (Ap). Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen.
– If Lillehammer wants to be an innovative city, we should focus and think like him in the years ahead: To identify a problem, and then use the knowledge we have to solve it, he continues.
Vassdokken will present the matter in the municipal council on 28 November. In 2027, the city turns 200 years old, and he believes it should be erected in time for the celebration.
It became known a short time ago that Lillehammer municipality will have to cut NOK 100 million. When asked by the GD whether this is a good use of money, Vassdokken replies that he wants to create enthusiasm for the city.
– It is clear that these are demanding financial times for Lillehammer as for many other municipalities. But if we don’t try to create excitement and optimism around Lillehammer, then we won’t get anyone to move here either.
