The Liberals will spend 550 million to reduce school absenteeism in their alternative state budget – Dagsavisen

The Liberal Party is setting aside NOK 550 million to combat dropouts and absences from school in its alternative state budget which it will present on Monday. This is stated by party leader Guri Melby The online newspaper.

– In total, we are prioritizing NOK 300 million for measures against absences and dropouts in upper secondary education, and NOK 250 million for a separate package of measures to reduce absences in primary school, says Melby.

She is concerned that the teachers and the schools themselves gain confidence in trying out new methods that can work well for their pupils.

17.5 billion more for climate measures

Liberal parliamentary representative Sveinung Rotevatn tells E24 that he will spend NOK 17.5 billion more on climate measures than the government next year.

– My impression is that many have given up, including the government. Now we need to bring back optimism in Norwegian climate policy, says Rotevatn to E24.

The party wants to cut the electricity subsidy, double the CO2 tax, introduce 25 per cent VAT on meat, set stricter climate requirements for fast boats and increase spending on a number of funds and initiatives.

They believe the electricity subsidy scheme does not contribute to electricity savings, and would rather use the funds to lower income tax.

The left believes that Norway can achieve the climate goals

The government’s state budget shows that Norway is in a very poor position to reach the climate targets. If all the climate charges are introduced in the Liberal Party’s budget, Liberal Party Norway believes that it can still achieve the targets.

In addition, Venstre will increase the allocation to Enova from NOK 8 to 10 billion, and the investment in railways and public transport from NOK 3.4 billion to over NOK 5 billion.
