Thousands of Riverside County students will now earn automatic admission to 10 Cal State schools

As part of a brand new pilot program, thousands of graduating high school seniors in Riverside County will receive automatic admission to 10 different schools in the California State University system.

The CSU announced the partnership with Riverside County on Wednesday. Eligible students at every public high school in the county will be offered admission to the 10 universities for Fall 2025 without needing to apply.

The students that qualify for the admission are upcoming graduates that have completed the CSU’s “A-G requirements.”

Those who meet those requirements will receive a brochure in the mail, offering conditional admission to the 10 schools. Interested students can then use californiacolleges.edu to select the universities they’d like to receive official acceptance letters from.

The 10 Cal State University schools eligible for the program include:

  • Channel Islands
  • Chico
  • East Bay
  • Humboldt
  • Maritime Academy
  • Monterey Bay
  • San Bernardino
  • San Francisco
  • San Marcos
  • Sonoma

Students are subject to traditional applications at the other remaining CSU schools and impacted programs.

“We are grateful for this ground-breaking partnership with the CSU to expand access to a world-class college education for our diverse and talented students in Riverside County,” said Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Edwin Gomez. “As one of the fastest growing regions in California, the need for college-educated professionals will continue to soar, and this partnership will remove barriers to higher education, welcoming more college-ready students to the CSU system through this innovative direct admission program.”

Even after receiving their official acceptance, students must complete the A-G requirements to gain acceptance to their chosen school.
