Threatening clouds, scattered showers arrive in Southern California

Colder temperatures and scattered showers are moving into Southern California Friday.

“We have rain in the forecast for some areas … it’s not going to create major problems but it could slow you down a little bit,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

Imagery showed patches of rain falling around the region during the early morning hours, including a brief but fairly strong downpour that hit the Rancho Cucamonga area around 3:45 a.m.

The chance of showers will continue for most of the region through Friday night although no hard-driving rain is expected.

Henry said light showers could dot your windshield occasionally, but there is more of a threat of rain than actual rain.

Higher-elevation resort areas like Big Bear could see a little snow from Friday’s event as temperatures plummet to around 10 degrees below normal.

A gradual warming trend is expected Sunday into next week with moderate to strong Santa Ana winds returning to the region, the National Weather Service stated in its forecast.
