The three are charged with having abandoned a person with subsequent death, in addition to having delivered and arranged for drugs, says a statement from the Argentine prosecutor’s office according to S ky News.
There is said to be a person who spent time with Payne on a daily basis during his stay in Argentina, while another is a hotel employee. The third is a drug dealer, according to the Reuters news agency.
According to the statement, Liam Payne was not fully conscious or experiencing a state of noticeable reduction or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall.
The 31-year-old artist died after falling from a third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16. Prosecutors say they have received dozens of witness statements, analyzed more than 800 hours of surveillance video and gone through Payne’s phone.
Argentine police have found what appeared to be drugs and alcohol strewn around broken items and furniture in Payne’s hotel room, leading prosecutors to believe he had a drug-induced breakdown around the time he fell.
On Wednesday, several media reported that the body of Payne was transported from Argentina to Great Britain, where the artist was from. Payne is best known for being a member of the band One Direction.
