The past few years have not been kind to three-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons of the Brooklyn Nets, who has dealt with numerous injuries that have kept him off the floor for quite some time.

Simmons’ NBA career hasn’t been the same since his nasty breakup with the Philadelphia 76ers. He has been able to play in only 57 games over the past three seasons, which is not ideal for him or the Nets, who traded superstar James Harden to acquire him.

However, every year around this time, some footage starts to surface of Simmons putting in work in the gym in preparation for a return to the court, which in turn generates backlash from the fans and media.

Even though Nets fans have already started to take shots at the 28-year-old for more footage coming out that leads to expectations that never seem to be met, NBA trainer Chris Brickley claims that the former Rookie of the Year is better now than he was during his best seasons.

“Ben is healthy, moving very well. He is better now than his All-Star seasons. I’ve never co-signed a player that didn’t prove it when their season started. Trust me on this one,” Brickley said, via Courtside Buzz.

There’s no telling whether Brickley is being overly kind or if this is legitimately where Simmons is at with the 2024-25 NBA regular season set to get underway next month.

Only time will tell if Simmons can resurrect his career, as he may have only one more shot at it with one year left on his contract with the Nets.
