Derrick White of the Boston Celtics got more than he bargained for when he went to the University of Colorado game this weekend.

White was on hand to watch his alma mater play against Colorado State but things got heated and physical.

According to a video shared by TMZ, White was hit by an opposing fan during the third quarter of the game.

White was struck so hard that his hat flew off and things escalated quickly, but a bunch of people intervened and stopped the episode from getting out of hand.

White has been a big supporter of his former school and has been at multiple games, but this is the first time people have messed with him.

It looked like White was ready to get into it with the stranger and he was seen shouting at the man and attempting to continue the melee.

But everything calmed down quickly and White was able to enjoy the rest of the game.

White attended CU from 2015 to 2017 and played for the basketball team, which he also supports during the year.

Aside from this ugly incident, White has been having a wonderful summer.

His Celtics won the Finals a few months ago and then White was part of Team USA as they stormed through the Olympics and won a gold medal in France.

Now, White is enjoying the last bit of his offseason before he has to attend training camp and prepare for the tough season ahead.

Thankfully, his summer vacation didn’t end with getting beat up or receiving assault charges.
