What to expect at a new In-N-Out Burger coming to Carson – Whittier Daily News

A new In-N-Out Burger is coming to Carson, but there is no estimate when the drive-thru will open.

Work is progressing on the project, according to Mike Abbate, vice president for store development for the Irvine-based chain, as well as city officials.

The construction site is at 20512 Avalon Blvd. at an entrance to SouthBay Pavilion near an Olive Garden restaurant.

The shopping center made it into the news in July due to a disturbance that resulted in the detention of more than 70 minors.

Plans presented by the city’s planning commission staff in 2022 called for a 3,885-square foot building with a drive-thru that can stack 24 vehicles.

The project occupies nearly an acre of existing parking lot. Planners estimated the shopping center would lose 73 parking spaces but still have excess parking available.

Traffic analysis showed the project would have little if any impact on nearby intersections.

In-N-Out has posted the restaurant on the “Opening Soon” page of its website. The Irvine-based chain usually waits until a project is at or near its construction phase before it includes it in the list. Construction usually takes eight or nine months.

Planning and permitting can be in the works for months or years before In-N-Out lists a project on its website.

Nearby In-N-Out drive-thrus include one at 730 W Carson St., Torrance.
