Dodgers fans around the world have been celebrating their team’s World Series victory, including a few fans from the White House.
As seen in an Instagram video posted on Friday evening, Dave Roberts and his wife, Tricia Roberts, received a call from Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff congratulating the coach on his team’s victory.
“We couldn’t be more proud of the team and your leadership and that incredible win,” Harris said to Roberts over the phone.
Harris told Roberts that although she was unable to watch the winning game live, “Of course your biggest fan, Doug Emhoff, did.”
“I know the Second Gentleman is a Dodgers fan, and I was just hoping that your allegiance would stay at least on the West Coast,” teased Roberts.
Emhoff, smiling next to Harris with the phone on speaker, reassured Roberts of his support and his congratulations.
He also told Roberts that he was attending events on Wednesday night, but that he watched the game on his phone when he could – and each time he was able to check, the score would move further and further in Los Angeles’ favor.
“By the time we were done for the evening, we saw you celebrating and it was such a thrill,” said Emhoff.
Harris ended the call by telling Roberts to “Please enjoy this moment and thank you for all the joy you bring us.”
One more fan from the White House also announced their congratulations to the Dodgers in an X post on Oct. 31:
President Joe Biden’s X account, @POTUS, wrote, “A season full of heart and total team work, congrats to the @Dodgers on bringing the World Series trophy back to Los Angeles!”
