Juno, the game’s 41st character, quickly gained attention for her distinctive mobility skills and speed boost potential. Juno is regarded as one of the more balanced support heroes in Overwatch 2 due to her lack of burst healing and absence of invincibility or crowd control tools. Still, her lack of “overpowered” abilities hasn’t hindered her rise to the top of the competitive ranks.
Following adjustments from her Hero Trial in Season 11, Juno’s versatility shines through her use of Martian Overboots, Glide Boost, Pulsar Torpedoes, and Hyper Ring. As a result, Overwatch 2‘s current meta is being dominated by Juno, though heroes such as Ana, Brigitte, and Kiriko remain strong contenders. Several factors contribute to Juno’s popularity, despite criticism for her reliance on passive self-healing.
Juno Is Currently The Most Picked Support Hero In Overwatch 2
Juno’s Winrate Remains Above 50%
Juno currently ranks among nine out of ten hero profiles on the front page of the Top 500 NA PC leaderboard. Outside the Grandmaster and Champion player base, she boasts a 9.22% pick rate in competitive play across all skill tiers on PC, along with a 53% win rate. In comparison, the next most-picked support hero, Ana, has a pick rate of 7.07% and a win rate of 48%, according to Overbuff statistics.
Since the start of Season 12, Brigitte and Juno have formed a strong duo, gaining notable popularity in tournaments like the Calling All Heroes Series. Juno is often seen as a more mobile version of Ana, filling a similar role but with key differences. Brigitte and Juno’s individual abilities allow them to thrive independently, but they also provide crucial support for each other when needed. Their ability to peel for one another is vital, and Brigitte typically shines when paired with a speed boost. However, her synergy with Lucio in the past hasn’t always been ideal, as it had the potential to lead to a lower overall healing output.
Juno Adds Significant Utility For Her Team
Juno’s hitscan Mediblaster rewards precision, enabling her to deliver impressive healing and damage. As a Flex Support, similar to Baptiste and Moira, she relies on cooldown-based utility and demands high mechanical skill to maximize her potential. While her movement, often likened to Echo’s flight, makes her an appealing pick, her effectiveness can drop sharply if shots are missed, making accuracy crucial.
Aside from this, Juno introduced a fast-paced meta to Overwatch 2, primarily due to her Hyper Ring, which serves as a versatile positioning tool for retreating, flanking, or rapidly overtaking the enemy. Paired with tanks like Junker Queen, Reinhardt, or D.Va, her speed boost poses a formidable threat. Of course, her Hyper Ring has sparked issues with D.Va in recent weeks, as the tank hero has faced criticism for possibly being too dominant in the ranked ladder.
On September 17, Blizzard patched a bug that allowed D.Va’s Boosters to stack movement speed multiplicatively with skills that increase speed, such as Juno’s Hyper Ring.
Interestingly, despite a bug identified by Overwatch 2 Top 500 support streamer August that causes Juno to appear slower while strafing in Hyper Ring, her vertical movement still contributes significantly to her high survivability. In addition to this, her Pulsar Torpedoes feature a slow but reliable lock-on ability for both allies and enemies. Coupled with her ultimate, which resembles a moving combination of Orisa’s original Supercharger ultimate and Lifeweaver’s Tree of Life, Juno is firmly establishing herself as a major contender in the current meta.
