Wichita to break ground on multimodal facility

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW)— Wichita will break ground on a new transportation hub in downtown on Friday at 9 a.m.

The multimodal facility, The Hub, will be located at the corner of Sycamore and Texas, right across the street from Riverfront Stadium.

The facility will be a parking garage and the city’s new bus transit center. The old transit center will become home to the Wichita Biomedical Campus.

“It represents years of strategic investment and planning to better respond to the growth of Wichita and the surrounding neighborhoods. The hub will be a last-mile destination. It’s a place to park and then walk, ride a bike or a scooter, and meet up with friends before going to the stadium or other amenities in downtown Wichita,” Mayor Lily Wu said.

The center’s cost will be $26 million.

Federal funding will cover some of the cost.
