Witches to paddle through Ventura Harbor for annual Halloween event

Ventura Harbor will host its sixth annual Witches Paddle this Friday, welcoming visitors dressed as witches and warlocks to participate in the growing community tradition.

The event, which started with a small local group, now draws dozens of participants and spectators, organizers said.

Those wanting to participate can bring their paddleboard or kayak to Ventura Harbor, or rent one through Ventura Boat Rentals—although inventory may be limited.

The 90-minute paddle will begin at 4 p.m.; a group photo will take place 30 minutes prior near Coastal Cone Ice Cream.

Organizers are encouraging those traveling to Ventura Harbor to take proper safety precautions, including wearing a life vest and paddling with a buddy.

After the paddle, attendees can enjoy dining and live entertainment at nearby waterfront restaurants in Ventura Harbor Village.

A similar event is scheduled for the following afternoon in Morro Bay on the Central Coast, where participants may see local wildlife, including whales, otters and sea lions.

Ventura Harbor Village will have a slate of fall events taking place in the coming weeks, including a dog costume contest, pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating, as well as a zombie “Thriller” dance party. For the complete schedule of events, click here.
