Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, there wasn’t much debate about who the Chicago Bears should take with the No. 1 overall pick, as Caleb Williams was the consensus best option for the storied franchise.

Ultimately, the Bears went with Williams, which might have been the right decision, even though he has struggled in the first three weeks of his professional football career.

Although Williams was without a doubt the top prospect in the draft, Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniel out of LSU intrigued a lot of teams, as he showed that he might have the ability to be a star on the NFL level despite having a risky style of play that might make him more likely to get injured.

Regardless of the injury risk, the Washington Commanders didn’t hesitate to bring him in with the No. 2 overall pick after Williams was off the board, and so far, the former Tigers star is looking like he has a promising future in the NFL.

On Monday night, Daniels put on a show against the Cincinnati Bengals, which further vindicated the Commanders’ decision to draft him, with veteran tight end Zach Ertz singing his praises on Tuesday while saying the rookie reminds him a bit of Andrew Luck via Up & Adams.

“Jayden is a very, very special player,” Ertz said. “Obviously, the talent jumps out at you when you watch him, but I think the thing about him, and probably the guy that had this the most I played with, was Andrew Luck.”

In an impressive win over Joe Burrow’s squad, Daniels completed 21 of 23 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns, along with 39 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Daniels has now led the Commanders to a 2-1 start, with the team sitting atop the NFC East division with the Philadelphia Eagles.
